The Last Mermaid

“Who are you?” he asked, keeping his voice gentle, although she still showed no sign of fear.
“The keeper of this isle,” the lady replied”

Author: Shana Abe

Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Mythology, Historical

Happy Friday, dearies! Are you ready for the weekend? I am! 📕

Today, I cannot really say how this one about The Last Mermaid will go, but I have some notes that I’ll share after reading each part of this book. I must confess that for a while, I seriously considered giving it 2-3 stars because I was confused and it took me a while to finish it, but then Shana did what she does best when I’m reading her books, she managed to catch my attention each freaking time that a book part would end, oh, sorry, this one is divided in three Books (Short stories) but as it turns out they’re all related.

OneWord Book Challenge

Hello, dearies!

How’s the week so far? Halloween is around the corner, and I decided to come in with a little challenge that I found on Instagram, another, yes.

This time around is for the OneWord, the challenge is supposed to be a stack of books with One Word titles, but I am doing it here, and what do you know? I have a list of book titles that are one word and from one series, cool? I think so, but I’ll include other titles too, even if I love this particular series.

Here we go. 📚

2011 Reads

Hey there, dearies! 😎

Last time I did this was for 2009, and that brought memories, this time will be different since I don’t recall what I was reading in 2011 but I can take a guess. Why don’t I recall? Because I was probably still reading other books from previous years or doing some re-reading, or probably reading something from the 1800’s.

But there were some books that came out in 2011 and we might feel a little old while remembering what they were because it’s been 10 years since that time. Yes, this is 2021 so 10 years! I know!

Let’s get this party started, I’ll also tell you, which ones I did read.

Hope you can find a new read for October 31st, I will be adding some of these to my endless TBR.

Favourite Books to Re-Read Challenge

Hello, dearies!

I trust you’re having a good day or night or afternoon.

Today, I am bringing you a new challenge, that I saw online it’s called #challengelieblingsbücher created by @nadineslesecouch It’s literally translated to Favourite books Challenge. So, no brainer there, what are some books that are your absolute favourites to read over and over again, whether it’s a series or a single book.

I’ll let you know some of mine, I’ll keep the list short. 📜 😄 For real, I won’t expand.

HP and The Goblet of Fire

“Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”

This is going to be interesting, I’ll try to keep the movie and the book separated.

Author: JK Rowling

Genre: Fantasy, YA, Adventure, Magic

Book 4 in the Harry Potter Saga

“Because I want to fix that in my memory for ever. Draco Malfoy, the amazing bouncing ferret…”

Ron

Hello, dearies! 🙂

Hope is shiny where you are or not really cold as it gets here.

This one was the natural next step because we already have a review (sort of) about The Philosopher’s Stone, The Chamber of Secrets and The Prisoner of Azkaban, so The Goblet of Fire deserves its spot, however, if this were about the movies, it would not get more than a few lines because the fourth movie didn’t live up to all the expectations it should have.

When we first read The Goblet of Fire, it was that we’re-growing-up book, yes, PoA too, but this more so because Harry found a love interest, the first crush, and we met Cedric full-on, and that was the opening to the other houses, especially because now there would be a tournament with other magic schools.

Life Events and 2 Reading Lists

Hi, dearies!

I trust you’re all safe and well. 🍂 This one is a little off the track, but I wanted to mention I might not be as active this month; I have been dealing with some personal things with my family and will be focusing on them for September. 🍂

My father needs heart ❤️ surgery, and we’re in the process of saving up and receiving any small contribution to help us achieve this goal, you can see the crowdfunding here, and if you can share, that is also a way of helping us.

As I said, this is happening right now, so that’s why I’m kind of on a hiatus this month, not many posts on Instagram or here on the blog, but I’ll be back soon, hopefully. And thank you to all who have reached out or shared the news.

The Last Star

“It’s always been this way…We bear the unbearable. We endure the unendurable. We do what must be done until we ourselves are undone.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Trilogy: The 5th Wave

Author: Rick Yancey

Genre: YA, Science Fiction, Dystopia, Post Apocalyptic, Aliens

Page count: 338 pages, Hardcover

📖

I gave it 4 stars out of consideration, and I didn’t want to put 3.

I don’t enjoy writing bad reviews, or what some might count as bad or not perfect-I-loved-everything-about-it or even hey-you-should-read-this-is-a-must-read. I like recommending books that I enjoyed, but then the endings come, and they’re so, what the frack is this?

That’s kind of how I felt all the way through the last chapters of The Last Star. Up until the last chapter, I had hopes, the hope that it would end differently, but it didn’t.

Let’s get this party started. First, I have some commentary on some of the chapters, then it comes the final review, and if you haven’t read my previous reviews on these books, you can check them out before reading this one:

Though you might find them a little different from this one, and they were written a long time ago.

Alright, so the warning, Spoilers ahead! Like there are Spoilers if you haven’t read The Last Star. You have been properly warned.

Fiction – Graphic novels & comics I didn’t know

I was taking a quick look on Smashwords today and saw this section on Graphic novels, though I think it should be more like Fiction with a touch of graphic? Well, at least the ones that I saw didn’t have much comic on them.

Hello, dearies! ✨

Happy 4th of July ✨ to those who celebrate it. I was taking a quick look on Smashwords today and saw this section on Graphic novels, though I think it should be more like Fiction with a touch of graphic? Well, at least the ones that I saw didn’t have much comic on them.

So, I saw these and thought you might like to check them out too, I haven’t read them or anything, I just read the titles and thought that they could be included in the TBR, so don’t take my word for it. 😂📚

Here we go.
