Book Challenge: Jumping Genres in 10 Books

Which genre of book is your favourite? For me? It varies.

Hello, dearies! 🍂

Welcome to the blog and another random list of books that I have on my TBR and have not read yet because you know… life.

I have decided to go with Genres as there are various ones that I have picked up or added to my reading list over the years. I am, most of the times, am avid fantasy reader as many of you might know, it is what I live for, it is my favourite, anything can happen there and I also love writing in this genre, but it is not the only one, and of course there are many other types of genres from mystery to romance to plain old fiction that I have read and enjoyed.

So, that is why if I read a description or see a book cover that looks interesting, I added to my endless TBR and here are 10 different types of books that jump genres… mind you, some might have similar genres, but here we go.

New Mystery Book Filter – Live!

Do you use effects on TikTok?

Hello, dearies! 👻

So, some of you might know that I’m on TikTok and that I also love talking and creating new vids about books, manga, and anime over there, as well as some Doramas and anything for that matter.

Anywho, I created a new filter/effect for Mystery Autumn Books, so you can pick your next read, rate a book, talk about a new book, or a classic, or anything you want. I invite you to have fun with it. 😄📚🍂

This is the one.

Mystery Autumn Books

Thank you, dearies!

I hope you’ll enjoy it. 👻🤡📔📚

Lock Every Door

‘No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both.’ But then, no more depth as you read it…

Genre: Suspense, Drama (more drama), Mystery, Audiobook

Author: Riley Sager

3.5 ⭐️

Not what you would expect. Or what you wanted. 🫠

When you have a title that it’s Lock Every Door, you would think that there’s more suspense or paranormal. So, be warned ⚠️ it might not be what you thought and not in the ooh-such-a-good plot twist.

3 Easy Mystery Books to Read First

“They were each other’s crutch to lean on when life got too much to carry alone.”
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

Hello, dearies! 📖

I was going to do 5 mystery books to read but then I realized I couldn’t think past 3 books that I would recommend in this genre. Sorry, not sorry.

This is not a genre that I particularly go crazy about in books, in movies and TV shows, I do like those a lot.

So, the list is not long but these books are worth mentioning. Let’s begin. 🎃

Top 5 Reads of 2022

‘I won’t lose to anyone ever again… you can believe in me.’
Cheeky Brat Vol. 2

Hello, dearies! ❄☃

Top 5, I should say top 3 and not have so many expectations building up for this one. I re-read a lot of books this year.

Nevertheless, I will try to name 5 books that I liked this year, even if they are re-reads. 📚💖

The Final Girl Support Group

A mystery? Yes, it sort of was, but was it horror? Not really. This book dives into the mind of a Final Girl, literally. But that’s just one opinion.

3⭐

Author: Grady Hendrix

Genre: Horror, Thriller, Fiction, Mystery

Well, I have my doubts about the horror tag or thriller, it’s more Mystery and Drama than anything else.

Hello, dearies! 📽

This one it’s more like a movie than a book, and you find yourself thinking about all the horror movies you watched in the past, and trying to pair those with the characters in the book rather than paying attention to the storyline.

Daisy Darker

This is the first audiobook I ever listened to, I don’t know if I’ll go back for another. On Daisy Darker? I don’t know if I’ll come back for more books from this author.

Author: Alice Feeney

Genres: Suspense, Drama, Thriller (?)

⭐⭐⭐

I give credit when and where credit is due.

Hello, dearies! 🐚

A new month is here, and only now am I publishing a new one, but the days just blend together lately.

Daisy Darker was my first audiobook, and half of the time I thought, I could be reading this instead of listening and it’ll be faster and perhaps a bit more interesting. But that is not part of the review, just a thought about audiobooks.

The Nothing Man: Review?

“Fiction only really worked if it was built like a lattice through which you were repeatedly offered glimpses of absolute truth.”

Author: Catherine Ryan Howard

Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Adult, Suspense

Hello, dearies! 📝

Here’s another I wouldn’t have picked up from a shelf on a trip to the bookstore, yet I read it.

The Nothing Man is one of those books that didn’t have my full attention until about sixty per cent of it was already behind me.

I could have left it on the side, I could have stopped reading long before that half mark, but I pushed on, and I am sorry for those who are fans, but it didn’t amount to much at the end.

Verity

“Most people come to New York to be discovered. The rest of us come here to hide.”

Author: Colleen Hoover

Genres: Thriller, Romance, Mystery, Dark, Adult

4

Hello, dearies! 📖

First off, let me tell you a bit of what you’ll encounter in this book review for Verity because I feel like some warnings are necessary.

I gave it 4 stars to not give it 3 because that would affect the author, and I’m sure many love this book. And It’s not that I didn’t like it perse, but I didn’t enjoy it fully either. I gave it 4 out of 5 because it was well-written, and I thought, yes, I could read other books by this author.

But this review is honest, as honest it can be without giving away the ending. I’m warning now and will be warning you further ahead that there are spoilers in this review, many if you don’t want to know anything before reading Verity like me. I read it without even looking at the genres of it.

Let’s begin. 📝

7 Horror, Mystery Books that could be interesting

I’m not a big fan of mystery, horror, and that sort of books but there are a few that could persuade me to read them, and I wanted to share them here, given, most would because I have seen a movie related to it and I already know more or less what it would be like.

Hello, dearies! As many of you might have noticed, I’m not a big fan of mystery, horror, and that sort of books but there are a few that could persuade me to read them, and I wanted to share them here, given, most would because I have seen a movie related to it and I already know more or less what it would be like.

Yes, Stephen King is going to be on this list because. who else could put the creeps on you through a book, right? 👻📚
