Izzy Lightwood

Total Badass chick and Shadowhunter warrior.

Names: Isabelle Lightwood. Izzy. Iz.

Will not talk about Emeurade Toubia, awesome girl who portrayed her on Shadowhunters TV, mostly because Izzy’s story on the show was so completely weird, and twisted at various points, they changed the character.

But in the books? Warrior. A great role-model. Funny. Compassionate. Passionate. Hot. I mean, Izzy is one of the first characters you fall for in the books, even before, Alec and Jace, or Clary, who I didn’t like very much at first.

I don’t like nor know what happened on the TV Show, for real, she suddenly changed so much that I was, what is this? Who is this person? I am not saying that what happened wouldn’t be something that Izzy would do, because it went with her personality (on some levels), but it’s so far from the books that you just end up disappointed, like the fact that she was an addict? Yin-fen wasn’t even a thing in The Mortal Instruments, we knew from Jem, in The Infernal Devices, so this was one of the most controversial and whacked things I saw on Shadowhunters TV about Izzy. I know I said I would not talk about it, but it had to be said.

In The Mortal Instruments, from beginning to end of the books, she was the most amazing person, you would love to have her as a best friend, and I loved her. Well, I wouldn’t be doing this if I hadn’t.

During the brief glances we had of Izzy during Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, we further loved her, and we wanted her to be involved and not give up because they’re perfect for each other, I learned that along the way but there it is I said it, I know I am talking in riddles for those who don’t know, but you will know if you read TMI.

In The Dark Artifices, there is also glances of Iz, but the ones we see are great as usual, this character is one that you follow and every time you see her (like Magnus, Alec, Jace, Clary and all the others) is a rush. This is the greatest thing about reading Cassie Clare’s books that they are all connected in some way and no matter where you look or what you read, you will find a character that you love either from their own series or from other stories, and they make a special appearance. Is Izzy like that? Yes.

As a role model

Iz is a role model, the role model, she’s badass as I have mentioned, and she is also very loving, and very empathic as well as observant, she knows everything that is going on, and she is a fierce protector, I don’t usually like female characters in books because they tend to be annoying but not our girl, perhaps because she is not the main character.

My point is that she is an awesome character, and I’d love to have her as a friend. Now, the question reminds, have you read The Mortal Instruments? Because I think you would love them. This 2021 might be a good time to re-read the whole series, and that would be a challenge since if I start at The Infernal Devices and work my way up from there, then there are over 15 books to read. Wow. But just thinking about the stories and the characters is enough to make me want to immerse into it all.
