Flashback: Songs inspired by GOT and ASOIAF

Are we still waiting for new GOT books? Yes. So what to do while we wait? Let’s check out some tunes that were inspired by GOT and ASOIAF. It’s the least we can do.

Hi, dearies! ๐ŸŽง

I suppose you have seen or rather heard some songs that remind you of Game of Thrones, and did you think, hey, was this song written or inspired by GOT? I sure did a couple of times.

This post will also act as a Friday Flashback because well, it is Game of Thrones we are talking about after all. And A Song of Ice and Fire, which is not over yet but let’s face it, we have been waiting forever to read the sequel to A Dance with Dragons.

My personal favourite is this one in Spanish by Spanish band Saurom titled Se Acerca el Invierno (Winter is Coming). It’s amazing, and about the Starks of course.

But there are so many others, and some we have heard on Game of Thrones. Here are some GOT and ASOIAF inspired songs:

  • “Ostatnia z Rodu Starkรณw” by Odpust Zupeล‚ny – This is a Polish song, which the title translates to “The Last of the Starks.” It is supposedly inspired by the Stark family from “A Song of Ice and Fire.” But I couldn’t quite find it. If you do, I’d love to hear it.
  • “The Bear and the Maiden Fair” – This song was covered by various artists, including The Hold Steady, and was featured in the “Game of Thrones” TV series soundtrack.
  • “The Night That Ended” by Karliene – This song is supposedly performed by Karliene, a singer-songwriter known for her fantasy-inspired music, but the song that I found was “All Things Come To An End” when I looked up that name.
  • “The Rains Of Castamere” – by The National – Often refered to as “The Red Wedding” but that’s not the name of the song. This song was inspired by the infamous Red Wedding scene from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” books. Spoiler alert, yes, that’s Robb Stark’s wedding.
  • “Valar Morghulis” by Zaxai – The High Valyrian phrase meaning “All men must die,” and of course comes from the books, but I couldn’t find this song by this artist. I did find one by Argentinian band Melian, it has the same name.

And that’s all, it was difficult to find some songs that were not featured on the show, and rather that were simply inspired by the books. But if you know any other that are not listed here, do let me know I’d love to hear them all.

Thank you for sticking to the end, dearies! ๐ŸŒ™

Enjoy the music! ๐ŸŽถ
