This will be a quick Spoiler Time Sunday.
Book/Movie: Pride and Prejudice
Author: Jane Austen
Book Character: Lydia Bennet (Youngest sister)
I was recently watching Pride and Prejudice (movie 2005) again for the thousandth time. And realised how little they explain how Lydia is, there’s a bit more to what she does and how she is. So here I am.
Did you know that in the book Mr Bennet actually asks Lizzie who did Lydia drive away (which suitor) by being all flirty.
That’s not on the movie (2005). Although Mr Darcy does say that the lack of propriety of her sisters and family. But when Lizzie tries to persuade Mr Bennet to not let Lydia go to Bath alone with family friends, in the book, she tells him more than she’ll be branded as the biggest silliest flirt. It’s because she knows that because of her younger sister, people sees them as a bit too much in the flirting the department.ย
Later on, when Lydia elopes with Wickham, they don’t have the happiest of marriage as you might have guessed,ย and they’re often asking Lizzie or Jane for money.
At the end of the book, there’s little to expand on about their lives after all the sisters get married, but there’s some. And you also discover that Mr Bennet finally leaves the conform of his home and visits Lizzie and Darcy often.
So, yeah, I wanted to say that about Lydia Bennet because I thought it was one of the key moments and Lizzie was sort of embarrassed by how she was and what Darcy had told her about her family. He does in the movie, but she really reflects on it all in the book. So does he, of course. But it goes both ways.
It’s a great book to read, I haven’t re-read it that much but it’s there in my mind. ๐ฅฐ
That’s all for this one. Told you it was going to be short.
Hope you enjoyed my rambling, and don’t forget there are other spoiler entries here on the blog, in case you like those.
Thank you for coming back, and if you’re new, welcome! ๐
Happy Sunday! โญ
