“Awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters.”
Hello, dearies! Welcome to my first ever C.S. Lewis book review. 😮
That’s right I had never read The Chronicles of Narnia or any book by this author. But I decided this year that it was time, it had gone long enough, and frankly, I opened the book and started reading without giving it too much thought.
And that was eye-opening for me. But first let me tell my first impressions of reading The Magician’s Nephew, which was not what I was expecting in many ways.
‘…have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?’
Hello, dearies! 🧵
Did you know that there is a Jane Austen Challenge going on by canterburyclassics? (This is not promoted).
There is! And I decided to go into it, starting with Jane Austen in January, true be told I didn’t finish it in Jan, but I’ll plan on continuing until the end throughout February since the challenge is month by month through 2025, and I am not really planning on doing needlework, this time. 😆
As Ms. Austen is to turn 250 this year! That’s how they decided that this should be the perfect way to celebrate.
These are the expected month-by-month challenges:
You can still join, of course. What do you think? If I find other book challenges like so, I’ll definitely consider them, it looked like so much, and perhaps I’ll finally read all of Jane Austen’s books, because Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey sit on my shelf since forever. 😸
That’s the latest from my end. I’ll update on my new view of Pride and Prejudice once I’m done. 😊
‘It was much pleasanter at home,’ thought poor Alice, ‘when one wasn’t always growing larger and smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn’t gone down that rabbit-hole — and yet — and yet — it’s rather curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have happened to me! When I used to read fairy-tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one! There ought to be a book written about me, that there ought! And when I grow up, I’ll write one.’
Hello, dearies! 📚 🙂 I trust this new January is going superb for you or that February will bring in new things.
This one is not a review perse. It’s more of an I’ve-read-it-before, and I cannot talk about specifics or how a certain line was my absolute favourite, and the reason is that The Alchemist is one of those books that I read years ago, like ages, aeons ago.
‘I must learn to be content with being happier than I deserve.’
Author: Jane Austen
Title: Pride and Prejudice
Page Count: 400 pages
Genres: Novel of Manners, Fiction, Historical Fiction, Historical, Literature
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.
All about Fitzwilliam Darcy aka Mr Darcy.
Do I really need to say anything else? If you’re answer is yes, then I guess you must keep reading, because honestly, who doesn’t know Mr Darcy? Or Elizabeth Bennett? Or Jane Austen’s name for that matter, one of the greatest writers to ever have lived in the contemporary department, even when the book has no scenes considered to a specific audience or anything like it.
Whatever the book is rated, if anyone wishes to rate it, does not matter when it comes to saying that Pride and Prejudice is an enjoyable, fun, unconventional story, a classic it may be since it has years circling the world, however that does not mean it is not worth to be read, just because Miss Austen was born centuries ago, this is one of those books that transcends time and will continue to be incredible a century from now.
