Book Challenge: Find 5 Books with A Blue Cover

This time, I searched for titles with striking blue covers, not on my shelf (just 1), but across the web. Do you have books with blue covers?

Blue? It was not easy.

Hello, dearies! 📘

Welcome to a new book challenge.

Do you have books in your bookshelf with a blue cover? I went and looked online to see different versions instead.

The Magician’s Nephew [Book Review]

“Awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters.”

Hello, dearies! Welcome to my first ever C.S. Lewis book review. 😮

That’s right I had never read The Chronicles of Narnia or any book by this author. But I decided this year that it was time, it had gone long enough, and frankly, I opened the book and started reading without giving it too much thought.

And that was eye-opening for me. But first let me tell my first impressions of reading The Magician’s Nephew, which was not what I was expecting in many ways.

Dune: Book Review… sort of

Author: Frank Herbert

Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Drama, Fiction, Classics, Space Opera

4 ⭐

Hello, dearies! 🐫

Today is one that I finished last month (I think). Dune, this was a long read, such a very long read, but I got through it! 👏🥳Good for me!

So, Dune, have you watched the new Dune movie with handsome Timothy Chamlet? I have, of course, about 3 times by now, might watch it again before the second part releases next year. But that’s not why we are here, and no, I haven’t watched the other Dune movie. 1984?

TBT: The Secret Adversary

“Never tell all you know—not even to the person you know best.”

Or as I knew it before in the Spanis version: El Misterioso Mr. Brown.

Author: Agatha Christie

Genres: Detective, Crime Novel

I can’t remember when I read this book, maybe over ten years ago or more, but I do remember this, I liked and thought it was cool to get into suspense and think, oh what’s happening, uuh what’s that?

It was nice. But The Secret Adversary is about looking for clues, following up people, and finding them.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: TBT

‘It was much pleasanter at home,’ thought poor Alice, ‘when one wasn’t always growing larger and smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn’t gone down that rabbit-hole — and yet — and yet — it’s rather curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have happened to me! When I used to read fairy-tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one! There ought to be a book written about me, that there ought! And when I grow up, I’ll write one.’

Author: Lewis Carroll

Genre: Nonsense Literature, Fantasy, Adventure

When did I read it? Ages ago.

Hello, dearies! 🫖

When I was little, I loved watching the Disney movie of Alice in Wonderland. Just a fun fact for you.

I didn’t read the book until my teenage days and found it as nuts as you can imagine.

It’s not bad. It’s just a lot of things happening.

And Then There Were None: Quick View

“But no artist, I now realize, can be satisfied with art alone. There is a natural craving for recognition which cannot be gain-said.”

Author: Agatha Christie

Genre: Classics, Fiction, Crime, Thriller, Mystery Thriller, Mystery

First time I read this one was like fifteen years ago, and yes, this is a classic mystery that I would recommend, and that sucks you in, unlike other mystery or thrillers I have read where there is not much to it.

I don’t mean to be so dismissive of new stories, but some of those books leave me with a sense of: meh. I cannot help. Even if I do have a section on Mystery/Thriller here on the blog because I recently read more books in that genre than I ever did in the past.

Anyway, going back to And Then There Were None, which even for my young mind, it was quite good and left me wondering about it for a few days. I don’t remember the whole meat in the middle of it, but I know that I liked it.

The Alchemist

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

Portuguese: O Alquimista

Spanish: El Alquimista

Author: Paulo Coelho

Genre: Fiction, Classics, Fantasy, Philosophy, Inspirational

Hello, dearies! 📚 🙂 I trust this new January is going superb for you or that February will bring in new things.

This one is not a review perse. It’s more of an I’ve-read-it-before, and I cannot talk about specifics or how a certain line was my absolute favourite, and the reason is that The Alchemist is one of those books that I read years ago, like ages, aeons ago.
