Maybe I set my expectations too high.
Perhaps I thought too much while reading it.
Or simply Bleu was not what I was expecting but this had all the potential.

4 stars and I am being generous. I have a soft spot for elves as you might know from my other reviews of these series. And I like romance fantasy, however, there was something not quite there and I cannot wrap my finger around it.
So, let me tell you some of the thoughts I had while reading and some of the quotes that I saved in my heart.
Thoughts while Reading
And Quotes with no thoughts, just the quotes that I liked from the book. 😸
Now, before I start, I am assuming that you have read the previous books or my reviews about those, because if not, you will get a lot of spoilers but not understand my notes that much. This is my warning that there are spoilers. 😆

Ch 1
‘Seven hundred years of hunting were finally going to end.’ That’s a long time for some, but if you consider the Four thousand years old people in the book, then not so much?
Ch 2
‘The comforting arms of sleep drifted around her and he was there waiting for her. Sinful. Wicked. Beautiful. The elf.’
‘Each dream only strengthened her dragon instincts, making her ache with a need to possess him, to sink her claws into the beautiful male and make him belong to her.’
Ch 3
Page 17:
‘He hadn’t lived in the time when dragons had been free to fly in the mortal realm.’
Page 24:
‘He didn’t need a mate. He didn’t need anyone. He just needed to keep hunting the dragon.’ Yeah, right. I sure have heard something like that before.
Ch 4
Page 35:
‘“Six,” she whispered and fought the faces of her owners as they came to her, pushing them back down inside her, refusing to look at them or those of the people who had traded her. “There were six before I escaped.”’
Page 35:
‘Both for her. And for the elf. Her fated male.‘
Ch 5
‘His eyes held hers, fierce amethyst that stole her voice and commanded stillness from her, pulling her firmly under his spell.’ This is why I keep reading these books.
Ch 6
‘Vail was tainted by darkness, but not to this degree.‘ Wasn’t he?
Ch 7
‘He wasn’t interested in a mate. He had a mission, a purpose, and he was going to fulfil it.‘ Yes yes, we got it, he is going to fall hard.
Ch 8
‘Or if they had, they hadn’t lived to tell the tale of the beautiful fallen angel who had given birth to this land and the demons who filled it.’ Lucifer?
Ch 9
Page 70:
‘What in the gods’ names did mortal society do to young males to turn them into such pathetic limp creatures, afraid of their own shadow in the presence of a pretty female?’ Lots of things.
Page 74:
‘Only this time it struck him that there was a deeper reason he always thought of her whenever things became too much for him.’ Note: I thought he realised she was his mate.
Chapter 10
Bookmarked the whole chapter for one reason. 😉😉
Ch 11
Page 84:
“You are passionate… emotional… and though you try not to be… you are. You love deeply and that only makes you easier to wound without people realising it, especially when you refuse to show those feelings. You ache for your fated one, and so you foolishly fall for any female who bestows smiles and affection on you.”
Page 85
‘“Since you know that in your heart, and our hearts were created the same, you must also know that mine is as constant in its affection as yours.” She slid him a sideways glance. “Do you not?”‘ Sorry, that sounds borderline incestuous
Page 89:
‘When all along it had been impossible. Because he had already met his fated female.’ You don’t say.
Ch 12
‘The elf male had slept in time with her and that vision had been a strange reality, shared between them as if they had been together, not countless leagues apart in separate beds.‘ How in the virtual fu** does she know they were both sleeping? *deep breath…* just go with it.
Page 90:
‘She had often wondered how it would feel if they slept at the same time, sharing a vision, but she had never imagined that wild and frenzied need, that heat and hunger, and the sheer bliss she had experienced.’ OK… sure.
Page 93:
‘Six masters. Three hundred years. A thousand lifetimes of pain and suffering. Nothing could erase that from her past.‘ It would have been interesting to know more about how they managed to keep her locked or sell her.
Ch 13
‘A truth he had been avoiding for the past seven centuries. The dragon was his fated one.’ You don’t say, what a shock!
Ch 14
‘He’d had her backed into a corner that time. She had been speaking with him, calm and collected, and then he had advanced on her and she had felt threatened, lashing out to defend herself.’ At the auction?
Page 116:
‘It was time they both stopped running.’ I didn’t get Bleu’s sudden change in heart, but okay.
Ch 17
“The arena. The black market. A few lunar cycles ago… the elf was there. He had many more men with him that time.” I don’t understand this timeline one bit.
Ch 19
‘The elf would be responsible for her death.’ Yeah yeah. then he’ll give her blood and save her. Just like Loke “killed” Anais. and Vail “killed” Rosalind.
Ch 20
‘Warmth flowed through him and he sank deep into the connection, drifting through it into Taryn and using his psychic abilities to forge a stronger link between them.‘
Ch 21
‘The moment whatever was happening between him and a female stopped, they distanced themselves.’ huh? *am I over analyzing these lines?
Ch 27
‘His incomplete bond with Taryn only made him stronger, because she was the more powerful one. It was a little emasculating to say the least, but he was going to roll with it, because right now having that added strength gave him a shot at protecting her.’
You cannot admit to her being stronger and being emasculated the very next second. He should have gone with it without that comment.
Page 239:
‘Olivia was plain in comparison to Taryn.‘ lol, luckily his Prince couldn’t read his mind.
Ch 28
He ignored her. Taryn wasn’t pretty. She was beautiful.
Ch 30
‘She had never soared so high.’ In the two times she was with him?
Ch 32
‘easily pushed out of existence by the strength of the light of Taryn’s love for him and his love for her.’ Wasn’t he waiting to know for sure that she loved him? If he knows, what’s the hold up now? Just the ‘not worthy’ bit. 🤔
Ch 36
‘Valestrum‘ This is from a game, no? Yes, but don’t know what came first.
Page 333:
‘“Tenak has turned the tainted in our ranks against us.” Tainted were weak, vulnerable to control by witches.’ Right…
Wow, that took some time and space, I hadn’t realised that I took so many notes on this book until doing this. Which means that I was invested in it, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered to stop and write down some notes.
So, yes, you see? I did like it, but it was not the 5 star read that I was expecting. I had been hyping up Bleu in my mind I guess, since he was in the other books and I wanted to see what would become of him and then I researched all the descriptions of the books to know which was one was his: Possessed by a Dark Warrior. 😸
But there was definitely something missing and that it is different from the first 3 books. Maybe it ran for too long, I mean this Series goes on to book 21, come on, I think that was taking it a bit too far, considering that from book 4 to 9 there was not much that was interesting there. Not for me. Maybe for other readers there was. Perhaps they like the shapeshifters in this series more than I do.
Because I do like shapeshifter fantasy romance stories like the ones by Eve Langlais, they are a blast for me, or Shana Abe, but these ones? Only the dark elves do it for me. Cannot be helped.
In any case, yes, I did like the book, but I was expecting more of it, what that more is? I don’t know but I could say it is a 4.3 star rating perhaps, it’s not a complete lost, and maybe I was not being so generous after all and did enjoy it more than I thought. 😄
That’s all from me, dearies! Thank you for staying to the end with my rant on Possessed by a Dark Warrior, featuring Bleu and Taryn in Hell. That is the actual place where they were.
And, don’t miss out on the next book review in this Series, which will be for Unchained by a Forbidden Love, that one I already read and I liked it, at least, more than I liked this one. That is the teaser for today.
Don’t forget to like, share, comment if you have read these books, and follow the blog for more book reviews. It really means a lot to me when I see new followers or likes. ❤️❤️
Happy October! 🌚
