The Bane Chronicles
Authors: Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan
Illustrator: Cassandra Jean
Genres: YA. Fantasy
How do you write a review about a book this size without losing some of its charm on the way? I do not know, so I decided to do it story by story, because I can and because every story in The Bane Chronicles deserves to have a little piece here.
No matter how short, the stories in the Shadow World are something that you will enjoy, even if Cassie Clare is not the only one writing the story, you still like it because the characters she created were just too amazing not to be totally incredible on their own. For real, you could read something about Church alone and still be excited about it. That is the cat, in case you did not know. Alright Magnus, yes I hear you. I am getting there.
The Story
Since The Mortal Instruments we have been reading about how Magnus Bane did something in Peru and could not go back there, because of some unknown mysterious reason, he made us laugh with his comment on the matter. And then The Bane Chronicles came and the first story in it was, no surprise, ‘What Really Happened in Peru’ and I had to read it and know exactly what had happened there.
It was funny and not what you would have expected, still Ragnor was there and it was a good step to knowing more of Magnus. As in you really just were scraping at the surface with this one. Though it is not my favourite in the book it was one you could easily read and laugh all the way.
No, I am not going to tell you guys what happened in Peru, you will have to read the story. I am wicked that way. I might said more about other stories though, because some in that book were truly eye opening. I love the Shadow World, did you know? It amazes me sometimes just how much I enjoy these books and how much, and how little we are still to know about it, because I have read a lot about it and still Cassandra keeps finding ways of surprising us with each new story she comes up with.
All of that said, if you have read these stories then you know what I am talking about and if you have not, then you probably should start with The Mortal Instruments, it is just the right move, even if The Infernal Devices is set in the past, and The Bane Chronicles is all about Magnus, and though The Dark Artifices is the BEST in this world, you still need to start out with those, trust me. And definitely read Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy last, or before The Dark Artifices, because that one will give you some real spoilers.
