But when the price of vengeance is the soul of the angel bringing her back to life, will Emelia be willing to pay it?

Hello, dearies! 🪽

At this point, you might have noticed that I like these books 😆 I cannot seem to stop myself from buying them. Since I picked up the Eternal Mates series again, I have not been able to stop until I get to the bottom of it all. Although, the last one I read seemed to take a small turn, a wee one from what I had read on this one and book #17. Alright I’m getting ahead of myself because I read 3 of these in a row.

I shall focus on Avenged by an Angel, which I had wanted to read since book 7? The one on Taken by a Dragon, I think; like honestly, I knew this one was coming at some point and when I began reading, it all seemed to point in the right direction, and then? To be honest, I stopped reading for a bit, it was kind of predictable, but I still read it and liked it, but was not as: whoa! As I had expected.

I might have built it up in my mind…

Okay, okay. Should I do my thoughts while reading? I did tracked some of those, as usual. 📖

Thoughts while Reading

There might be some spoilers ahead.

Chapter 1

  • None of the people he had graced with his presence had ever dared to tease him before either. She smiled and he knew she had read him again

Me: you’d think it was Sable’s story, who he’d fall for…

  • from the mortal realm millennia ago by a powerful witch.

Me: yes, I would like to know who or how or why

Chapter 3

  • No matter how many times she told herself that he was an angel, that he wouldn’t hurt her,

Me: doesn’t mean he couldn’t. not just because he’s an angel, he would if he wanted or she was another human he didn’t like.

Chapter 6

  • He wanted to smile when it dawned on him.

Me: so freaky he has no name. I keep forgetting.

  • “You’ll get in trouble.” He had the feeling he had been in trouble from the moment he had met her.

Me: 🤭😊

Chapter 8

  • He wanted her to be his female. His only one.

Me: his fated eternal one?

Actually, wait for the answer to that, later on here. I will talk about it.

Chapter 29

She knew without a doubt that not everyone who was brought into Archangel should be there. Not all of them were a threat to humankind.

Me: then why the hell are you still there?

Chapter 31

  • It was Sable’s grand departure from Archangel.

Me: Well, after 15 books it is about time.

So, I left out some of the other comments and notes I had for this book because they were a bit t0xic and I didn’t want to be that girl, and also, it would be a bit more spoiler even if it was without context or with it, it didn’t matter. I’ll move on.

Avenged by an Angel

After reading the book

Now, spoilers, for real. Because the ending of this book, left me a bit on the side of: really?

I mean I shouldn’t have put so much into it, but after all this time (reading all the other books), I got invested and wanted to know more about what would happen with the avenging angel, and this is what happened?

spoiler alert tv show

Here me out for a moment, or read me out if you will.

From the book: ‘He couldn’t share a bond with Emelia, but they could share forever.

But… so.. . if he is part demon, wouldn’t that had made a feasible and reasonable option that his blood could turn her immortal? Like it did with Sable and Thorne? Or was that only because they were eternal mates? And since the dragon here was a sociopath, then it was easier to say that this mating wouldn’t work out but the one with the angel would, even if it was regular old fashioned falling in love… just a question.

I get it, I got the whole book, and everything that happened in it, but I think there could have been another approach to their relationship, and on top of that, you spent 15 books (I didn’t read all of them), but if the series is called Eternal Mates, you would expect that these two are also eternal and fated, like the others were, but you go and only use a dragon for one thing? And, it is not avenged by an angel, it is, an angel wanted to avenge me, more like.

I’m sorry, I’m getting worked up again about it, but it had the potential, the book was all set up to be a cool Angel book, and then… regular, sort of. I couldn’t get to the 5 stars and I wanted to.

All of that aside, of course, I liked it, and of course I would still recommend the freaking book because I read it from beginning to the end almost without stopping, but it’s not on the top 5 for me in this series.

Anyways, here are some quotes from it, because as I said, I did like it.

Quotes from Avenged by an Angel

  • coming from an unfamiliar part of him, one that felt alien and rocked him with the strength of its will and the depth of its feelings.
  • “The stars are always more beautiful from your world.”
  • The love that burned inside him was powerful, controlled him far more easily than the natural darkness he held within him ever had.
  • to the deep and consuming love he felt for her—love that felt as if it might destroy him if she turned him away.

Other Reviews from this Series

Or the order that I chose to read the books in, and what to skip. Just a personal approach.

And that’s it from me, dearies! 😇

Thank you for coming back for more of my book reviews, and if you have read this series or are planning on it, or have never heard of it, let me know in the comments. I’d love to know who else has read it.

Side note, other two book reviews to come soon. 😎
