Hello, everyone! ⭐
Welcome to a Special from the pages of GOT and ASOIAF. 🐲
There are spoilers here if you don’t know about the stories related to A Song Of Ice and Fire, but only have watched House of The Dragon or Game of Thrones. 👑
I saw the trailer, tease or whatever you want to call it for Max’s new TV Series (Show) related to ‘Dunk and Egg’, which is a side-side-side story related to A Song of Ice and Fire, and somewhat mentioned (very little) on Game of Thrones. It’ll be called: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and it will premiere sometime in 2025.
I’d like to clarify that I haven’t read all stories related to ASOIAF and some sound interesting, but what is this one about? I’ll tell you but as I said, this is going to be spoilers. You have been warned.
Moving forwards, this might be an unpopular opinion but #sorrynotsorry.
About the Tales of Dunk and Egg
Tales of Dunk and Egg is a few fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin (The Hedge Knight (1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010)), set in the world of his A Song of Ice and Fire novels. They’re all about the adventures of “Dunk” (who’s going to be on the Kingsguard, and later be named Ser Duncan the Tall) and “Egg” (the one who’s gonna be King Aegon V Targaryen), this is like 90 years before all the stuff happens in the novels.
And this is the show they decided to make? Well, I’m sure I’ll watch “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” but come on…
However, what would be some shows that we would line up and wait forever to watch? Here are some options.
GoT Spin-Offs That Could Outshine ‘Dunk and Egg
- The Long Night
What is The Long Night?
The Long Night is the name given by the Westerosi to a time when a dreadful darkness descended upon the known world. This dark period took place during the Age of Heroes, around eight thousand years prior to Aegon’s Conquest, amidst a prolonged winter that endured for many years. Lasting a generation, the Long Night brought widespread devastation through famine and terror.
Now, tell me, doesn’t that sound like an awesome possible show? Or a movie? It does to me.
- Robert’s Rebellion
So, if you watched Game of Thrones, you know about Robert’s Rebellion, also known as the War of the Usurper, this rebellion against House Targaryen was primarily instigated by Eddard Stark, Jon Arryn, and Robert Baratheon, for whom it is named. Lasting “close to a year,” it resulted in the downfall of the Targaryen dynasty in the Seven Kingdoms and marked the beginning of Robert Baratheon’s reign.
However, this could be a long show because this Rebellion also had several battles that are worthy of having their own screen time such as: Battle of the Bells, the Battle of the Trident, the Battle at the Mander, and perhaps the most known one, Sack of King’s Landing. And we would watch that eagerly.
- The Children of the Forest
It is unclear where the children of the forest originated, or how long they inhabited their land before humans arrived. For thousands of years during the Dawn Age, the children and the giants coexisted in the land that later became Westeros. The two races are thought to have engaged in sporadic conflict, as evidenced by the discovery of obsidian arrowheads in a giant’s barrow near Long Lake. The children inhabited various regions of Westeros, from the Summer Sea to the Land of Always Winter. They referred to Dorne as the “Empty Land,” but it is uncertain whether they lived on the Iron Islands according to maesters.
Do I need to say more? The Children of the Forest is one of my favourite stories to know more about from ASOIAF after the Dragons and the Targaryens.
- How Prince Rhaegar Fell for Lyanna
About Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark of Winterfell.
This one might be just me, but I want to know more of how and why and where he left his wife Elia Martell, who he (Rhaegar) had two kids with and went off with Lyanna Stark. They say he abducted her, they say they were in love, but The Winds of Winter is not out… (*taking a deep breath*). I’m not going to rant about A Song of Ice and Fire’s 6th Book, which is not published yet.
And these are just some of the stories that we know and would like to watch more than ‘Dunk and Egg’ but I know there are many ideas and shows in development, or so it’s rumored. You can read more about these facts and stories here.
That’s all from me, what do you think? Should we have some of these stories turn into Live Action? They would be pretty interesting to watch.
Ohhh, I almost forgot about another great one that I would totally love: Doom of Valyria.
And not because this sad story is exciting—it is sad, and we wish it hadn’t happened, however, the Valyrians and their cities sound far more interesting. But yes, Valyria suffered an unknown cataclysm, and the Targaryens came from this place, having fled before the disaster happened. So, yes, this one would be cool too.
Alright, I am really done (for now) with this semi rant about the shows that would have more views than the new one by Max. Let me know if others come to mind, do you know the stories related to ASOIAF? Keep it clean and nice. 😊
Thank you for reading, dearies! And don’t forget to check out my flashbacks and reviews for Game of Thrones and for the books, too. 📖
Update 2026
Only to say that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is on (first episode was on Jan 18, 2026), and you can watch it now, but me?
Yes, I watched it all, and yes, I admit it… I liked it enough. 😄
