Well, I did not remember everything that happened in this one to be honest, since I kind of liked The Mortal Instruments from book 3 onwards, but it is still good to know everything, even if by City of Ashes I still found Clary annoying, because I did. That changed later in the saga and the other books, but here and on City of Bones, it was not easy for me.

So, I haven’t read City of Ashes again in a very long time, I think I read it once…

But yes, this is the one where Clary is still trying to remember her past, or the memories that Jocelyn had Magnus erase, suppress, alter, whatever you want to call it. It amounted to the same result of Clary had no clue she was a shadowhunter. Did I have to warn you that there will be spoilers? Is that spoiler?

TL;DR

City of Ashes is book 2 in the TMI Saga, Clary is trying to get her old back life one where there was no Shadowhunters and no brothers, but that is not in the cards for her. I loved remembering all the good parts of this book. So good. 😊

Throwback on City of Ashes

I cannot tell anymore what is spoiler and what it is not, because I assume everyone know about The Mortal Instruments, but I know that is not true. Anyways, yes, so Jocelyn is in a comma, Clary found her new “brother” Jace and they are annoying each other. *derisive snort*. But there is so much more going beyond that, it is actually setting up and aligning it all to book 3, because Simon and Clary try out dating, the Seelie Queen forces them all to face the facts: Clary and Jace are into each other. The Downworld is in fear of Valentine or of someone that is killing their children: vampires, werewolves, and faeries.

And I’m rethinking and remembering the whole book, and all I want to do is go read it! That is the point, that these books are that great, and I am still into it after all these years. Really, I recommend it, go read, that’s my advise for you today, dearies! 😆

I love Throwbacks, it forces me to go back and rethink the whole book and why I liked it in the first place, and most of the times, I still do, and sometimes I do read it.

But question, have you read any of The Mortal Instruments books? Or City of Ashes? Because you should, if you like young adult, romance, supernatural, screaming at the book, reading in the wee hours of the morning, spending all day in bed with a book, and yes, that is an accurate description of how I spent my days when reading a Shadowhunter novel.

That’s all from me, except for the actual book description of City of Ashes that I have for you, in case you have no clue about anything that I just talked about:

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

That’s it, is it not what I just said? Pretty much, lol.

Anyway, that’s all from me, thanks for sticking to the end, dearies! I know some of you are Shadowhunters fans, and if not, I hope you pick up one of these books and begin your journey. 🏹🩷
