Hello, dearies! This one is a bit late, yes.
But it is 2025 and it is the Year of The Snake, so what should we read? Are there books related to snakes? 🐍
You know what is the first book I am going to name, right?
I think you do.
Year of the Snake: What to Read?
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Told you. But if you didn’t guess it, is alright. It was not the first book that came to mind, but I did say: oh, and President Snow’s book too.
In any case, if you are a Hunger Games fan and want to go back to Panem then this one is for you. If you are like me and feel little sympathy towards people like Snow, the book is also for you but from a let’s read about Panem POV.
Moving on.
Triad: The Idhun Chronicles 2
😊🐍 I might be one of the few people that still talks about these books, but it is up there with the Wizarding World in how much I like them. And yes, you have snakes on these books, more so, from book 2 onwards. Winged Snakes, still snakes.
Fruits Basket – Manga and Anime
IYKYK.
This is spoiler, but yes, this might the most accurate book to read that has actually a Snake in it and it relates to the Chinese Zodiac. 🤭
You might have to read a few chapters before finding it but it’s there. Lol.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
What? There is a giant snake *cough* Basilisk. Still a slithering creature. And if you want more recommendations, the whole Harry Potter saga because there are Slytherins (like me), whose house sigil is a Snake.
In any case, I’ll add some other books with snakes in the title now, no worries. But keep in mind that I have not read these other books so I cannot say if they are good or not.
Legend of the White Snake
When Prince Xian was a boy, a white snake bit his mother and condemned her to a slow, painful death. The only known cure is an elusive spirit pearl—or an antidote created from the rare white snake itself. Desperate and determined, Xian travels to the city of Changle, where an oracle predicted he would find and capture a white snake.
A Snake Falls to Earth
Nina is a Lipan girl in our world. She’s always felt there was something more out there. She still believes in the old stories. Oli is a cottonmouth kid, from the land of spirits and monsters. Like all cottonmouths, he’s been cast from home. He’s found a new one on the banks of the bottomless lake. Nina and Oli have no idea the other exists. But a catastrophic event on Earth, and a strange sickness that befalls Oli’s best friend, will drive their worlds together in ways they haven’t been in centuries.
Huh? I was going to say that it might not be about snakes precisely but that description got me intrigued.
That’s all from me on Snakes and books, hope you found a new book to read, and if you know others with actual snakes in it or just in the title let me know, I’d love to check out some others.
Thank you for reading, dearies! Don’t forget to like, share, comment, and subscribe to the blog for more bookish lists.
Happy Year of the Snake! 🐍
