Do you leave 1 Star Reviews?

I was wondering about this one for some time, and have mentioned some of it before, so today I decided to go ahead and ramble for a bit about it.

Why do people leave 1-Star reviews? Don’t they know that one’s opinions is completely then somebody else’s?

I know, everyone is entailed to their opinion and if they want to leave 1 star is their business, I know, okay? 😄 And the same for 5-star reviews, perhaps I loved it but others would think it’s not as good.

However, I don’t usually leave low-stars on books, as a writer and as reader, I would loathe to leave one because if I don’t like a book, I still leave 2 or 3, but not one, in fact, I wouldn’t finish a book that I don’t like half way or at the beginning of it.

So, why would I read a book only to leave it one-star? If that was the end the result, it must have been a terrible read, one that I would spend ages reading, or skipping over chapters, and how can I review a book like that? When I didn’t properly gave the book a long read to understand it all?

But perhaps, others would like to read a book that I find difficult to get through, or simply boring.

And don’t get me wrong, I have finished books that I want to leave 1-star, but I take a moment to think it through and consider why I finished, and if it deserves, at least 3-stars, and well I leave that much.

So, I guess, my point is that I wouldn’t put much stock into a book that has 1-star review and people saying “this is the worst book ever” because that’s one person’s opinion, so, it’s not like that’s a rule that you have to follow. Don’t read it because others gave it 1-star. That’s just damaging to an author and other readers looking for a new read.

I got carried away there. 😄 Anyways, yes, I rather not finish a book and give it another chance later, or leave it 3-stars if I do finish it.

Unless you rip it off like this one… although, they were just creating a new cover.
