Books to Movies to actually be excited about

Pride and Prejudice and a fantasy book are getting Live-action screen time. Are you excited? I am! Here is the bookish news.

Hello, dearies!

Welcome to a mini update, and a bookish one that I didn’t know was moving so fast to completion.

There are some movies coming to the big screens this 2026, other than Sunrise on the Reaping that is. We already knew about it, and we are waiting anxiously and excitedly for it.

But these other 2 are also on the way, or being filmed at the moment are a bit different from the dystopian movie we are waiting on, one is a classic novel of manners, and I hope it remains true to it, and the other one is a magical one, though I wouldn’t call it a classic completely, perhaps it is on its way.

The Magician’s Nephew (Netflix movie)

I recently heard of the upcoming movie for Narnia’s Origin, so I had to put that on a higher priority than others, because, I have been reading all the books from The Magician’s Nephew to The Horse and His Boy, and I am still not done, I know. So, this Greta Gerwig movie is exciting to know will be happening this year, and on November.

Pride and Prejudice: A series?

On the other end of things, and a kind of not related way but still book to live action, it is Pride and Prejudice.

So, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, has been adapted and reimagined into movies, shows, books, and everything in between, how so? Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for once, or Bridget Jones’s Diary for another, yes that is an adaptation of P and P, check it out on that note I just added for you.

And there are also some books that are a ‘side’ story of the main one, or POV from other characters, like The Other Bennet Sister or that book I barely talk about Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman (don’t read it), these are not from the author, of course, Jane Austen wrote what she wrote and moved on, these are retellings if you must.

So, P and P is getting a new show. And it will star Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden as Lizzy and Mr Darcy respectively. Check out the teaser below:

So, with this new series, where you get more time for actors and stories to develop, we might actually have an ending worthwhile (although Pride and Prejudice 2005 was pretty great, the cut scene at the end).

Why do I mention the ending of Pride and Prejudice?

spoilers alert

In the book, we have a whole universe and wonderful characters that make the book great, but why am I hyped up talking about the ending? Because the final chapters of Pride and Prejudice are by far some of my favourites, forget going to the dances, and to visit Charlotte and meeting Mr Darcy there, instead, imagine Mr Darcy secretly going to visit Elizabeth while Mr Bingley goes to visit Jane because yes that happens, and yes, that is a spoiler, sorry I get excited.

So, in all the shows and movies, and adaptations, this part doesn’t seem to have an important feature even though is one of the reasons I keep going back to this story and book, and I thought it would be nice if somewhere, someone, some director or production company would integrate this part.

That’s the end of the spoilers for Pride and Prejudice.

Now, will it lean more classic and faithful, or will it try to modernise things a bit? That part scares me a little. I am still going to watch it, and the teaser seems a regular adaptation, but there is always room but casting and script writers to get crazy ideas and drift off into too modern.

And now I’m just here, adding more things to my “watch when it releases” list, which was already too long, but I don’t mind and I hope you will add it, too, and let me know if you plan on watching this show or the new Narnia movie at the end of the Year.

That’s all from me, dearies! Thank you for sticking to the end and don’t forget to comment, share, and subscribe for more. See you on the next one! 🙂
