Hello, dearies!

Happy Hunger Games!

That’s not it, I mean, hello, it’s been a while, and welcome to a new Throwback Thursday!

Have you read The Hunger Games trilogy? Or book 1: The Hunger Games?

It can be confusing when talking about it.

I have read it but one time, and it was enough for me. I did like it, of course, and I was surprised because I first hadn’t wanted to read because of how Katniss says things, her POV and voice were a bit strange for me at first.

But I got used to it.

I have a full review for all three books in the trilogy here on the blog. But, today is the Throwback Thursday of THG because it’s been so long since I read this book, and because I felt like rambling a bit about it.

Book Title: The Hunger Games

Year of Publication: 2008

Page count: 374 pages

I have watched the movies a bunch of times though, I first was reluctant with the book and the movie was fine enough, but it increased the more times I watched. After giving the books a real chance, I was truly hooked. Though to be honest, the side characters’ stories are better than Katniss. Because now that Haymitch’s book is out, it is obvious that the others should have a book, too, Mags, Finnick, Johanna, and definitely some from district 1, why not? To show how they train them.

I think she could milk it for a lot of years if Suzanne wanted to.

In any case, I got sidetracked from The Hunger Games, and the story of Katniss, Peeta, and bringing down the Capitol? Or just President Snow, the man was already almost a goner.

In any case, in the first book it was more about getting to know Katniss, the districts, the way of life, and how the Capitol controlled them through the games, but not much more because Katniss went to the games and was not entirely thinking: I’m a rebel and bringing them down. That came later. If Haymitch or Plutarch hadn’t pushed her into it, she might have won the games, go back to District 12, gotten drunk like Haymitch and the cycle might have go on. 🤷‍♀️

Just a perspective.

But instead, she and Peeta won the games in a roundabout way, and then Katniss’ troubles began for defying Snow. But that is a Catching Fire story.

So, that’s that. The Hunger Games ended, they won, they made the president angry, and had to deal with the consequences in the upcoming books (movies).

Pretty straightforward if you put it in terms of dystopian novels back in the day and the elements they should have, but I am not here to nitpick on the book, I am just reminiscing about it. 🙂

That’s it for this TBT, dearies!

Thank you for stopping by and reading, if you have already read THG let me know in the comments, and if you haven’t also let me know, I am interested. Don’t forget to like, share, and follow the blog. See you on the next one!
