Welcome, dearies! ✈️
Once more we’re going on a bookish adventure in Seoul. 📚
Now onward to Starfield. 😺 There are two of these libraries in South Korea, well, as far as I know. The first time, I only visited the one in COEX Mall, but in 2024 I had to cover more ground and see more bookish spots because I was a bit shy the first time.
So, I planned my trips and had everything set up, and the day of the Starfield visit in COEX Mall, it snowed! And that made it all even better. ❄️🥰
Seoul’s Starfield
As I said, it was a snowy day for me when we went to Starfield in Seoul, it was my second time there since 2023, but it is always decorated for the season, and of courses a huge Christmas tree was in the middle of it.
And while outside it was snowing a lot, and I wanted to be there more but the cold was intense for my inexperienced, Latin-self, lol. But I still got to enjoy it.
How to get there?
Take the Subway Line 2 and get off at Samseong Station, Exits 5 (there are other ways but this is the route I took). Then walk for about 5 min or more, depending on whether you are enjoying the sights or power-walking to the Library, and then… you are there! 🐱
Starfield Library (별마당도서관) is located at 513, Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Have you visited it? Or want to go there when visiting Seoul? I recommend it for book lovers and for travellers, definitely a must-see.
Suwon’s Starfield
On another day, we went to the other Starfield, the one in Suwon. For those unfamiliar with the maps of South Korea, this is another city: Suwon is the largest city and also the capital of the Gyeonggi Province. I didn’t know that it was the capital but you learn something new every day, but you can easily take the subway from Seoul, if you are staying there, and go to Suwon. I’ll tell you how.
How to get to Suwon’s Starfield?
From where I was staying near City Hall (Seoul), we took the Subway Line 1 all the way to Sungkyunkwan Univ Station, then changed and took the subway again to go to Hwaseo Station, got off and walked from there for a bit (8-15 min) until we arrived at the Mall where the Library is located.
Pretty easy, right? Yes, it can be, but be careful of your surroundings as it it easier to get turned around and take the wrong subway or come out of another street and then you have to walk a whole lot and think that everything is hopeless, nah, that didn’t happen to me, but I did get turned around a few times inside the subway, although, rest assured that if you pay close attention to the signs and read the directions you will get to where you want eventually. 😊
Suwon Library address: South Korea, Gyeonggi-do, Suwon-si, Jangan-gu, Suseong-ro, 175 스타필드 수원 4F~7F.
Main Differences between the Two
In terms of visuals and the feel of the place, I honestly liked Suwon’s Starfield better. The one at COEX Mall is nice and the first one you ever see if you go to Seoul and to this mall, and it is always decorated in a theme or season, but after seeing the second Starfield I was truly fascinated by it. 😊
Also, if you go to Suwon, you get to sightsee more, as you’ll be out of Seoul and the crowds.
That’s all from me, dearies! Thank you for coming back to the blog and reading about my bookish adventures and my ranting on libraries. Don’t forget to like, share, and comment with your favourite.
Check out more on my channel, there is the walking tour of both libraries, and also other bookstores I visited in Seoul.
