Welcome, dearies! 💍

This is the first time I do a light novel review.

A light novel, or ライトノベル (raito noberu) in Japanese, is a popular form of literature originating from Japan. It is typically categorized as young adult fiction, with its primary audience being teenagers and young adults in their twenties.

However the review still remains the same way as it is me rambling here. Alright, alright, today’s novel is My Happy Marriage #1, why specify the one? Because so far there are 8 books in this series. I’m glad I didn’t know about it back in 2019 when it came out for Japan because I wouldn’t have been able to read it as only on January 18, 2022, did the English version come out. And thanks to Yen Press, it seems like I’m always promoting them but I really am not, I wish I got free stuff but true is that YP has a lot of my favourites so I often find myself buying the manga and books from there. In any case, I got MHM in the mail back in June, you can check out the book mail for it here.

Back to this light novel, I really liked it and while I don’t have the usual quotes of chapter by chapter or page by page, I still have some thoughts on it.

Please be wary from here on out there will be spoilers about this novel.

My Happy Marriage #1 – Review

This is a story about a 19-year-old girl who had been mistreated by her family because she is the daughter of the woman the Saimori’s wanted and not the one Miyo’s father would have chosen himself. Also, Miyo doesn’t have spirit-sight a rare ability that allows a select few to see supernatural creatures.

So, her family after treating her like a servant all her life (after her mother died), they decided to marry her off to a man (27 y/o) who everyone think is cold-hearted and ruthless. The head of the Kudou Family, Kiyoka.

After a few short-comings and Miyo still acting like a servant, she begins to relax and talk more as she sees the kindness in Kiyoka. You know, how a romance goes at first. 🤭

Anyways, the first book ends with the two of them admitting that they would like to go ahead with the marriage. Miyo’s family falls into disgrace after her half-sister (Kaya) tries to make Miyo break it off with Kiyoka and Kudou-san saves her, of course.

All of this happened on a back and forth between the households, and Kaya was working with the head of the Tatsuishi family, as he wanted the possible gifts that Miyo’s mom could have passed on to her daughter and her descendants there after. The man was planning ahead in life.

But since they had abducted Miyo after Kiyoka had carefully trying to protect her, and he goes on and saves her, well all chaos erupts. However, that was not the end of it, as they are still not married but only living together without any romance in it, don’t get ahead of yourself, Miyo was only living in his residence. So, of course, I had to order the other books in the series and I did, I’ll share soon the book mail for that. 💞📬

Surprisingly this is the debut novel of Agitogi-sensei, and it already has an anime and a manga. It is still going since 2019.

I actually gave it 4 stars because there were some minor details that did not entirely caught me, but I am sure that the next ones may have a 5 stars from me.

So, that’s all for this one, dearies! I did enjoy it and read it every day, however as I had already watched the anime, it’s pretty much the same story line, if the details are a bit deeper in the light novel, so I kind of knew everything that was going to happen, and that would be the case for the second one as well I’m sure. Nevertheless I will continue to read because it’s interesting and my cup of tea, that is romance + fantasy.

That’s really it for now, thank you for sticking to the end and don’t forget to like, share, and follow the blog to get first-hand what’s new. There’s also my Youtube channel and the podcast.
