The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (A Hunger Games Novel) Book has been announced, which will be dedicated to the Second Quarter Quell, and we all know who won that one, right?
No? Okay, it was Haymitch, he was the victor of the 50th Hunger Games (or Second Quarter Quell) which is a different type of games, they always do a special one as they did on the 75th Hunger Games (Book 2: Catching Fire) where only the previous victors from each district would participate, this was how Katniss ended up again in the arena.
This might a little late, but this post is full of spoilers if you haven’t watched the movies, read the book, or do not know about the history of Panem.
In any case, finally we’ll get a book that we want to read because The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was fine, but come on, it was following a mental guy around until he realised that he was crazy and became the president we know in The Hunger Games, there that’s a summary of the book. 🤭
I know, I come off strong but I did like that book. 😄
So, the new novel in THG saga, series, world, universe, whatever you want to call it, will be about Haymitch Abernathy and I suppose other districts too, so I’ll try not to get my hopes up. Here’s the description of Sunrise on the Reaping:
The Fiftieth Annual Hunger Games are about to begin. Who will be tribute? Who will live and die? Return to Panem and rejoin familiar faces with more death-drenched tension than ever before. Oh, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
Of course, there will be more to it than that. As 48 tributes (2 male and 2 female from each district) would be on the arena, and if that’s not on the book then I don’t know what will be there.
On another note, the movie for this book was announced as well, they clearly wanted to shock us. The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – will be in theaters on November 20, 2026. That’s a year after the book releases. The new book is available for pre-order now but it will be released on March 18, 2025.
That’s a lot of waiting to be honest, but of course, I’m pre-ordering because I want to read about Haymitch since I read The Hunger Games trilogy.
Of course, the book’s description doesn’t mention that it’d be about him but we all know what happened on the Fiftieth Annual Hunger Games, and if you wouldn’t want us readers to guess so much, then another description with more details should be provided.
I’ll keep you posted all, probably next time I’ll have a book review (way into the future). Let me know if you’re as excited as me about this, it’s something to look forward to. 😊
