Hello, dearies! 👠
It’s Sunday! But I nearly forgot about today’s spoiler time, so for this Sunday I decided to go with Cinder, which is book 1 in The Lunar Chronicles saga (series).
Most of you might know or if you read the description of the book that this is a fairytale retelling of Cinderella. Yes, and there’s no spoiler in that, for context here is the description of Cinder.
Cinder Book Description:
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless Lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . . Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg.
Now, I saw this question around.
Is Cinder appropriate for a 10 Years old?
My opinion? If it were my kid I would let them read it, but if they have questions they can come to me of course. But in general, not so much, it does have betrayal, bit of YA romance, some death and thinking about it I would wait for my child to be twelve at least before letting them read it.
What is Cinder The Lunar Chronicles about?
I sort of already answered this question with the book description, but think Cinderella but with cyborgs and people from Luna, which is not Earth. But the moon, yes. Cinder is a dystopian, futuristic kind of book years in the future, where the world has gone to sh*** and there are few nations still standing and all those famous places you once knew, monuments or castles are gone and in ruin, and they are not only humans on Earth now. They try to live their lives as best they can but are half-ruled by the residents of Luna come to Earth with their strange powers because this is a fantasy book as well. A Fairytale if you must.
Our Cinder here, of course lives with a stepmother that doesn’t like her, a stepsister who is less than likeable and another stepsister who is nicer but ends up being half-irrelevant to the hold plot, but still Cinder is the odd one out until the charming prince meets her and falls for her, or tries to because Cinder doesn’t really want it or tries to hide that she’s not into him. In the end, she goes to the ball but you know that goes bad in so many ways and when Kai (the prince) discovers something about her he wouldn’t (not just that she’s part cyborg) want to be related to her anymore, except he does and gets over himself. Or so we hope after the book ends because yes, you have to read the whole saga (Scarlet, Cress, and Winter) to know how the story of Cinder will end.
Wow, I got inspired for a moment there. You can also read my book reviews about The Lunar Chronicles.
That’s all for this one, it was sort of short in the amount of questions but it seems like not many know what Cinder is or what The Lunar Chronicles are about, I hope I have caught your interest and you will want to read these books.
Thanks for reading, dearies! 💖
