Friday Flashback (Flashback Friday)

I had some confusion going with this one and A Clash of Kings. Don’t know why, don’t how that happened. Perhaps because I read all three books in a row. A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, and this one A Storm of Swords.

Book Description:

Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, victim of the sorceress who holds him in her thrall. Young Robb still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world. And as opposing forces manoeuver for the final showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost limits of civilization, accompanied by a horde of mythical Others—a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords…

And while this book continues the story and we (me) read the book to know what will happen with Dany, Jon, and the Starks, it drags a little, I won’t lie. It did for me.

In any case, here in A Storm of Swords we read from the POV of:

  • Prologue: Chett, a brother and hound-keeper of the Night’s Watch.
  • Lady Catelyn Stark.
  • Sansa Stark. Held captive by the King at King’s Landing.
  • Arya Stark, who is presumed dead.
  • Bran Stark, or the Prince of Winterfell, he is heir to the North, believed dead as well.
  • Jon Snow.
  • Samwell Tarly, who is the former heir to Horn Hill.
  • Tyrion Lannister.
  • Ser Jaime Lannister, but he’s held captive by the King in the North who is currently at Riverrun or close.
  • Ser Davos Seaworth.
  • Queen Daenerys Targaryen, Stormborn.
  • As for the Epilogue: Merrett Frey, a member of the Frey family.

But every time that Ser Davos or Sam chapter came, I stopped reading for a bit or read as quickly as possible, least favourite. That’s just how it is. 😄

So, how was the memory lane into A Storm of Swords? What memory lane? I know, I didn’t have much to say about this one, but I have to put it on the flashbacks because it’s part of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga. Here, I’ll leave you with a bit of Game of Thrones to refresh your memories too.
