Hello, dearies! 🐱🍙

Let’s talk Fruits Basket! If you haven’t heard of this anime or manga before, I recommend it. Also known as フルーツバスケット, Furūtsu Basuketto. You can watch it on Crunchyroll and FunimationNow.

Before starting on this one, I’d like to clarify that this is about the anime of 2019 (essentially a reboot). I haven’t watched the original anime (I didn’t know there was one) from 2001, though that one has fewer episodes, and I think they changed the story from the Manga.

Fruits Basket follows the life of Honda Tohru (please note that I often say names as originally meant in Japanese, that is surname first and then first name) as she starts living in a tent after her life it’s suddenly thrown into disarray, she’s a first-year high school student who has to support herself, but the Sohma Clan takes her in, and well, from there, you can’t help but continue watching this anime.

Season 1

It all happened so fast and nearly not enough, but I was so hooked on it that I hit next, next, next without thinking it twice. I had longed to watch it for a while but didn’t know I’d like it that much. 🐆🐕🐉

Season 2

By this season I was definitely on a roll. I just had to know what would happen with Tohru and Kyo, because Yuki feels like that secondary character that you don’t even know how they connect, that might have been a bit harsh, but it’s not like I did not like him, but everything else that was happening was way more exciting. Especially if you count Haru and Momiji.

End of season 2 was a shock though, I had no clue. It’s a big spoiler so I won’t talk about it here. 🐎🐏🐓

Season 3

Start Real-time reaction:

WTF

And then on Ep. Unwavering Truth, if Shigure was getting on my nerves from here to there, but others not, then the truth came out and if I tell you it’ll be a spoiler, I’m sorry I can’t.

I don’t know why I was so shocked, but I was, it was staring at me in the face, but then it actually happened, when you least expected it.

I liked FBt enough before now, but after all that has been coming to the light, it just too much, have to see it all through. Even if Akito is crazy AF.

I don’t know what was the last anime that made my view of age-gap non-existent and clearer than F**. Yes to all the age-gaps in this f-ing thing. I wanted to see all of them through.

🐰🐍🐄

End of real-time reaction.

Carrying on.

Now, I have a little confession to make. I didn’t like Sohma Kyo all that much, even knowing he had a tragic life story. But that changed as he changed, and went from snotty angry all the time brat to hello-there-Kyo. 😻Let me illustrate that for you.

Honestly, by the end of the Anime, I was more than hooked, not as much as with Hatsuharu, but close.

  • Honda Tohru
  • Hanamija Saki
  • Uotani Arisa

  • Akito

Just before finishing the anime, 3 episodes left or so, I searched for the Manga and started reading it, and even when I had just watched all seasons of Fruits Basket, I fell on it as if it were the first time knowing the story. And that after seeing how similar the Manga and Anime are, not in everything I’ll admit, but it’s pretty accurate. (Don’t fall for the is 100% faithful to the Manga, there are minor differences).

It’s insane how much I enjoyed Fruits Basket (フルーツバスケット), it’s been a while. I mean I did gush about Classroom of the Elite as well, but I didn’t jump to the light novel or the Manga like I did for this one, although I do want to read that. Anyway, it’s been some time since I rambled.

I hope you enjoyed and be on the lookout for my rambling about the Manga because that’s coming soon enough.

Thank you for reading to the end, dearies. I know I might not have said enough, but it was fun letting out. Don’t forget to subscribe, share and like. And to check out my social media. 🐒🐗🐁

Note:

Now, the manga also has an original version and a collector’s edition, but according to some sources online is the same, I’d like to read a few of the original before committing to that.

2025 Update:

You can listen to the podcast for more on the anime and the manga, but warning: there are spoilers about Furuba’s story there. 😄
