Beautiful Burn: Book Review (The Maddox Brothers #4)

“Love made people hate in a way they never would have before.”

Hello, dearies! 🧑‍🚒

Welcome to 2025’s first finished book, but that came from 2024 because I started reading in December.

Beautiful Burn is about the burn, nah, that’s a bad joke. It is about two people who like each other and would walk through fire for their love, in the end, and if there was a fire Tyler would burn for Ellie.

Now, a quick note. The only thing that I agreed with Ellie on this book was that Jim was a former detective and Abby was smart and so they would have to know that what the Maddox Brothers said they did for a living was a lie. 🚒

I didn’t like Ellie that much, no matter how much I tried to see her side of things.

That said. This book review will have some spoilers so beware.

4⭐

That fourth star was for effort. I considered 3 at some point, but by the time I finished, I hit 4 without hesitation. 🤷‍♀️

Meet Ellie Edson

A girl who is, by her own words, a functional alcoholic, but she doesn’t admit that she had a problem for about sixty per cent of the book, even when I saw it from the first 10%. You might think that is why I didn’t like her, but that’s not it. She was struggling and then after a lot of rock bottoms, she started to try to move forward. But it was something about her personality that rubbed me the wrong way, I don’t know. I mean at some point I said: whatever. And kept reading the book, but seriously, she got on my nerves.

She is a rich kid like Falyn from the previous book, but I don’t think that’s important for the rest of the story. Only she is in better terms with her parents than Falyn was. And of course, she denied her feelings but more on the lines that she didn’t want to ruin Tyler’s life with her messy one, even when he offered.

In the end, she cave in some way.

About Tyler Maddox

For this book I had to go back a couple of times to see how well-written it was that you didn’t know like Ellie didn’t know that she was talking with or about Taylor and not Tyler, which you might think that someone who is dating a twin, would recognise him, and she said she did but well, I guess you could confused.

Anyways, Tyler. Who is a man-w**re, by his own admission, even though after he met Ellie he remained content with her, and I didn’t see any of the regular idiotic or dumb comments you would see if he were a complete a**h**. Ellie was more than him.

Tyler Maddox is another Maddox boy, who works in a dangerous profession like Taylor and Thomas, and soon: Travis, too. But he hides it from his dad like the others. Honestly, I’ll say it again, Trenton is the only honest one is the Maddox household.

Now, the book. Back to it.

Did I give it 4 stars? Despite all of that? Yes. Why? For effort and because I liked Beautiful Burn, it was interesting and the one book among all the other in this series that had a bit more spice to it than the rest. Or perhaps I was more into it, because of the fact that by the end of Beautiful Sacrifice, I had accepted that it was all a series and not stand alone. 🤭🤭

Tyler I think I like better than Taylor to be honest. If I had to choose. But they are still at the bottom of the list for me. It was a mix of emotions with this book. Between moments I genuinely laughed a bit, felt 1% of empathy, and rolled my eyes more times that I can say.

But that’s all. I immediately started reading the next one, skipping over book 4.5 about America and Sheply but now that I’m reading Book 5, A Beautiful Funeral, I don’t know about my choice, I might have to go and read it at some point.

Anywho, I am currently reading book 5 and liking it more than all 4 previous books combined, maybe because everyone is here on it. 🤭

That’s really it. Thank you for reading, dearies! And being on this journey of binge-reading The Maddox Brothers Series. 📖
