Dune 2: Movie

“There is no escape—we pay for the violence of our ancestors.”

Hello, dearies! 🍿

Did you watch the new Dune? Or Dune: Part Two?

I did.

I was confused by the end of it.

So, here we are. I had to talk about the movie, and well, this is me rambling on it.

I’ll jump right in.

Dune: Part 2

It started excitingly enough and went down hill from there. Until at the end you didn’t know what was happening. And for someone who had read the first book (Yes, me🙋‍♀️), it made little sense.

There are some spoilers from the books next. ⚠️

No Paul’s sister being all smart. No two years period between scenes. No son of Paul and Chanai.

So, we’re left in the end with Chani leaving (?) And Fremen going of Arrakis, which might have been one of Paul’s vision but there were some context missing in some parts.

Look, I know, I haven’t read the second book or any of the others and I’ll only going of book 1. But if that were the only thing I would take as reference then they made whatever they want with this second part, and to be honest, it seemed as if at the end of it, it was a bit rushed. Like they wanted to wrap it up and be done with it.

They spent the first hour of the movie, going all nicely about Paul learning to be a Fremen, connecting with Chani, learning their ways, all of it good. And then suddenly they’re at a war again, it’s all a mess and the Padishah Emperor is going to Arrakis. And Princess Irulan, it’s just so, I don’t know like they were pushing her on the scene.

In the book, she is talking and saying things at the beginning of the book but I don’t know, in the movie, I felt like they were all over the place with it.

They had too many characters and plotlines and didn’t know how to deal with all of them.

That’s the best I can do to explain it. One sentence and I would not have gone on and on, ranting of how it’s different from the book. I know that the first movie it’s not completely accurate either, but it was easier to follow and to make you think whoa, I want to watch the second part.

But now, here we are.

  • Acting-wise, it was fine. I can’t complain, completely.
  • Cinematography, awesome too. Did they spend all their money on that?
  • Following the script and transitions? They lost me there.

And, well, that’s all from me on this one.

Did you watch Dune part 2, yet? Don’t be discouraged by anything you might see online, it’s still a great movie. And it stars Timothée Chalamet, so that’s always a plus. ❤️

Thanks for reading and staying to the end, and don’t forget to check out my social media and YouTube channel for other reviews, books yes, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy those as well.

Happy Watching and Reading! 📽️
